The History of Israel on One Page

In the nineteen teens, twenties and thirties, virtually everyone capable of critical thinking, including a majority of the world’s Jewish leaders, begged, literally begged the Zionists to abandon their plan to create an apartheid Jewish state in Palestine.(1)
The Zionists barged ahead anyway, creating the unforgivable calamity we have today. The resulting human catastrophe will plague the world until the the current Israeli state, based on violence, discrimination against the native population, and unjustified narcissism, is transformed beyond recognition.
At the time that the Zionists were mounting their putsch, the Palestine landscape was populated with an Arab semitic population that for millennia had occupied literally thousands of villages and towns. A few Jews (a tiny few – in 1880 the Jewish population was close to zero) were sprinkled here and there. To create their new single ethnic state, the Zionists had a problem: what to do with the indigenous semitic population?  The answer was multi-fold:
+ The locals were subhuman and not relevant in a modern world.
+ The locals would be grateful for the prosperity to be created by the new invaders.
+ Might makes right, and the locals could be suppressed or subjugated by power.
+ The world is too distracted by other events, so let’s go for it.
+ We’ll worry about it later.
Well, now it’s later. A two-state solution has zero chance of succeeding. The remnants of a landscape offered to an aggrieved population are so pathetic that the new country would be a hilarious failure. It is time to create a new state, without internal borders and walls, where everyone has one vote, one government, freedom of worship, and love and respect. “Chris, we don’t have to think like that anymore. We’re together now. Everything we’ve done is forgiven . . . everything.”(2)
Notes.
(1)* Gandhi, speaking on ethnic cleansing: “Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs. What is going on in Palestine today cannot be justified by any moral code of conduct. Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly  as their national home.” Nov. 26, 1938
(2) Ending scene in 2003 film “Solaris”.
